Thanks for supporting the LHS graduation ceremony

June 4, 2020
BY JERI DEAN, Temporarily Assigned Principal, Lahainaluna High School , Lahaina News

LAHAINA - To the community that we love: Due to the statewide restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Lahainaluna's graduating Class of 2020 was unable to have a traditional graduation commencement ceremony on campus.

However, thanks to the efforts of many in the community, Lahainaluna administration, Graduation Committee, LHS faculty and staff, Maui Police, State Department of Transportation and many more, the school was able to have the Lahaina Bypass closed for a few hours to accommodate over 200 graduating seniors, their cars and three family members to meet the CDC guidelines.

The pre-recorded graduation program was broadcast on 93.5 FM KPOA for all to hear in their vehicles, across Lahaina Town, Maui and even online for off-island family members. Best of all, the "L" was lit to continue the decades-long graduation tradition.
