November 21, 2019
Lahaina News

LAHAINA - The tradition of feeding the needy in West Maui on Thanksgiving Day continues thanks to the support of the LahainaTown Action Committee with the help of local businesses and community members.

The luncheon, made up of turkey and all the traditional holiday fixings, will be served Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the King Kamehameha III Elementary School Cafeteria at 611 Front St. in Lahaina.

All are welcome to attend this free community luncheon.

Donations are sought to help purchase turkeys and other supplies for approximately 400 people, as well as volunteers to help set up the lunch, serve and clean up.

To make a donation, drop off a check at the Lahaina Visitor Center in the Old Lahaina Courthouse located at 648 Wharf St., Suite 101; mail a check to LahainaTown Action Committee, ATTN: Thanksgiving, 648 Wharf St., Suite 101, Lahaina, HI 96761; or donate online at www.visitlahaina.com.

"We are so happy to be able to continue this tradition in Lahaina Town, said Sne Patel, president of LahainaTown Action Committee.

"The support from the community for this event inspires us every year. From the restaurants that donate food to the hundreds of volunteers, including keiki from all of the Lahaina schools, who serve the meal, to the support of those who donate monetarily from home and afar, this event is truly a community event that embodies the spirit of aloha."

Volunteers are needed to help set up from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and serve the meal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Additional volunteers are needed to help with cleanup from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Volunteers can register in advance on the LahainaTown Action Committee Facebook page or online at www.visitlahaina.com.

All volunteers need to check in at the volunteer registration table when they arrive at King Kamehameha III Elementary School for their shift.
