basketballMAUI expanding to reach more Maui students

By Staff | Oct 3, 2019

For ten years, basketballMAUI has held clinics to prepare youth for success both on and off the court.

Keiki are inspired when they learn from top NCAA and pro athletes. In addition to hoops skills, the mentors also emphasize the importance of education, a healthy lifestyle, teamwork, personal growth and strong character.

The good news for our community is that basketballMAUI is expanding to Vertical Sports Maui and taking the same mission, vision and values to different sports camps and clinics.

First up is a baseball clinic at Kalama Park in Kihei on Friday, Oct. 11, for boys and girls ages 11-14 (go to www.eventbrite.com/e/baseball-maui-tickets-71843711475 to register), and Saturday, Oct. 12, for players ages 7-10 (go to www.eventbrite.com/e/baseball-maui-tickets-71858776535).

The clinics will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Scholarships and financial aid are available.

Brandon Bantz, former pro and current director of the Los Angeles Baseball Academy, will run the camp. Keiki can also learn from two Major League Baseball players from the Detroit Tigers, Brandon Dixon and Daniel Norris, as well as motivational speaker Dean Johnson, who performs feats of strength.

“We would like to invite ALL kids in the age groups mentioned, regardless of their baseball ability. We believe everyone needs to hear from these world-class athletes, not to mention being taught baseball from some of the best in the business,” noted Vertical Sports Maui Executive Director Josh Duinker.

It’s great to see basketballMAUI expanding to bring its positive message to even more Maui students.
