Pacific Biodiesel marketing associate to speak at Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset

KAANAPALI - Beth Mathias will be the speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset on Tuesday, March 5.

The meeting will be held at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant at the Royal Lahaina Resort from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

A 35-year resident of Maui, Mathias has been on the Pacific Biodiesel team for more than eight years.

Founded on Maui in 1995, Pacific Biodiesel — farmers of sunflowers in Central Maui — is the nation’s longest operating biodiesel producer.

In 1985 Mathias co-founded Media Systems, a Lahaina-based photography and production company, and subsequently worked as a travel director before joining the renewable energy company.

Mathias has supported numerous Maui nonprofit agencies over the last 30 years and currently serves on the board of The Maui Farm.

It established the first retail biodiesel pump in America.

Today with more than 100 employees statewide, the company is the only commercial producer of liquid biofuels in Hawaii.
