Na Kamehameha Commemorative Pa‘u Parade winners honored

LAHAINA - On Saturday, June 16, Lahaina celebrated King Kamehameha I with its annual parade along Front Street.

The 2018 theme is "Ola ke aloha no na ali'i The love for our ali'i lives on."

In commemoration of the 100th anniversaries of the Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu and Hale O Na Ali'i, the Lahaina Hawaiian Civic Club honored the Honolulu organization.

Featuring a ten-foot-tall cascading waterfall, Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s float in the 2018 Na Kamehameha Commemorative Pa‘u Parade honored Na Ali‘i Wahine and the life-giving Waters of Kane.

Hale O Na Ali'i brought members from Molokai and Kauai to join in the celebration.

Below are the parade awards, with winners listed by order of finish: Walking/Marching Division Napili Kai Foundation, Maui Music Mission and World Indigenous Science Network; Decorated Vehicle/Float Division Lahaina Restoration Foundation, Old Lahaina Luau and Kamehameha Schools; Outstanding Pooperscooper Island of Niihau, Island of Oahu and Island of Maui; Outstanding Pa'u Unit Island of Niihau, Island of Oahu and Island of Maui; Outstanding Pa'u Princess Island of Niihau, Island of Oahu and Island of Maui; Queen's Unit Queen Tiara Dudoit; Island of Oahu Princess Rachel DeCoite; Island of Niihau Princess Ashely Branco; Island of Maui Princess Leila Kalani Larson; Island of Hawaii Princess Chasity Koko; Island of Molokai Princess Vernell Kai; Island of Kahoolawe Princess Mary Klein; Island of Kauai Princess Amy Tavares; and Island of Lanai Princess Kristina Duarte.
