Melissah Shishido said she will focus on state-level solutions to improve our quality of life.

Shishido reported that "she thinks globally and will act locally."

She has been volunteering for the Kihei Fourth Friday Town Party for the past four years, where she has connected with the community, made numerous friends and learned about issues facing the community.

Shishido co-coordinated the Inaugural Mahalo Sail for Hokule'a at Honolua Bay, where thousands gathered to continue the vision of Nainoa Thompson and Malama Honua.

Over 3,000 koa trees and other native plants were planted at Honolua during Hokule'a's visit.
