Mana'o'i'o Baptist Academy to hold graduation ceremony

LAHAINA - Mana'o'i'o Baptist Academy, a K-12 school and ministry of Grace Baptist Church at 164 Fleming Road in Lahaina, will hold a graduation ceremony on Sunday, June 4, at 6 p.m.

All community members are welcome to attend.

On May 13, the Maui Filipino Community Council presented the 58th Miss Maui Filipina Scholarship Pageant. Kimberly Yap of Lahaina was crowned Miss Maui Filipina 2017 at the Binhi At Ani Filipino Community Center. Her prizes include a scholarship award, a round-trip ticket to the Philippines and a $500 travel allowance. The new Miss Maui Filipina 2017 is the daughter of Ernie Yap and Naomi Maitinnara. She graduated from Lahainaluna High School. Kimberly was named Miss Congeniality and won the Interview, Swimsuit, Talent and Speech phases. The first runner-up was Gabrielle Gutierrez, followed by Anianiku Holt-Mossman and Crystal Nartates. Miss Maui Filipina 2017 will represent Maui in the Miss Hawaii Filipina Scholarship Pageant on Oahu on July 29.

Kamp Kumulani 2017 set

NAPILI - Kamp Kumulani 2017 will be held from May 29 to June 2 from 9 a.m. to noon at Napilihau Recreation Center.

Offered by Harvest Kumulani Chapel, the camp is for keiki who have completed kindergarten to fifth grade. Admission is free.

"As Galactic Starveyors, kids will search the skies and God's Word to uncover God's truth etched in His handiwork," the chapel noted.

Online auditions open for Lahaina Cannery Mall's SING IT! Teen Singing Competition

LAHAINA - Lahaina Cannery Mall's online auditions continue for its first-ever SING IT! Teen Singing Competition.

The deadline for online auditions is Saturday, June 3, at midnight Hawaii Standard Time. Contest details are posted at www.lahainacannery.com.

The contest is open to Maui residents 13 to 18 years of age. After all clips are reviewed, the panel of judges will select 15 lucky contestants to perform as the finalists in the SING IT! competition.

The competition will be held at Lahaina Cannery Mall on Saturday, June 24, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Winners will receive cash prizes: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second and $300 for third. There will also be a People's Choice Award.

The winner will get his or her song professionally recorded by a chart-topping Billboard artist and music producer.
