Help raise money for Lahainaluna teams and clubs

By Staff | Apr 6, 2017

The Lahainaluna High School Foundation last week announced a great fundraising opportunity for alumni classes and current LHS sports teams and clubs.

This year, the foundation is participating in the Maui Visitor Industry Charity Walk on Saturday, May 13, at 7 a.m. at the War Memorial Soccer Field.

Jeff Rogers of the foundation noted, “Alumni classes and current sports teams and clubs have been encouraged to form their own teams, under the foundation. Monies earned will go straight back to them, plus a percentage of the charity walk’s matching fund program. If your alumni class or favorite organization is not listed, you can give directly to the foundation.”

The foundation board will also form teams to raise money, all with the goal of helping the students of Lahainaluna.

Powered by the visitor industry, the charity walk is an incredibly effective fundraiser for county non-profits. Last year, the three walks in Maui County raised $1,095,455 for charities.

Rogers explained, “Anyone can walk; but if you can’t make it to the event, you can still donate. Lahainaluna High School and LHS Foundation supporters are encouraged to invite their classmates, friends, family and co-workers to join us for fun, food and entertainment at the walk, or to simply donate to this worthy cause.”

All walkers are required to have a minimum of $35 in donations in order to participate.

Time is limited – the walk is only six weeks away.
