WAILUKU - MEO Business Development Center (MEO BDC), which provides resources and support for local entrepreneurs, will launch its first "Be Strategic: Grow Your Business" series in Maui County.

An informational session is set for Wednesday, March 1, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the MEO Family Center at 99 Mahalani St. in Wailuku.

Local entrepreneurs who have a desire to grow their business will gather over the course of six months to build their skills, develop the growth mindset, build a network and come away with a strategic business plan to meet their goals.

The series is MEO BDC's grassroots approach to building entrepreneurial talent in the region. MEO BDC seeks to recruit entrepreneurs to participate that have been in business for more than two years and have a desire to grow their business.

According to MEO, this will be a great opportunity for participants to overcome some of the common barriers in running a business. They will create a strategic marketing plan to fuel growth.

The group will be really dynamic and inspiring; peer group coaching will give participants the support and structure to help them take their business where they want it to be.

Each of the series will be led by MEO BDC facilitators, who have decades of business experience.

"The organic growth of local entrepreneurship is contagious," said David Daly, MEO BDC director.

"It is always exciting as a group starts, and their long-term growth is what drives us to continue this work in communities."

This will be MEO BDC's inaugural series after holding Core Four business planning courses for over 19 years.

Expectations are for positive results that will lead to increases in sales at an average of 25 percent.

"Our goal is to foster the talent we have in this community, and then focus on growth through sales and profitability," Daly said.

MEO BDC has built a variety of services to meet the unique needs of entrepreneurs, including business planning classes, business consulting and loans.
