History is a key part of the curriculum at Sacred Hearts School. Two-time "History Teacher of the Year" award winner Patty Wurst passes this passion for history on to all of her students.

Every child in the school has the opportunity to go on a field trip to the East Coast. The keiki walk the streets of Williamsburg with Jefferson and Paine; climb aboard the ships that brought settlers to Jamestown; celebrate Cornwallis' defeat at Yorktown; eavesdrop on the founding fathers as they sign the Declaration of Independence; track down President Lincoln's killer; relive the pain of the Holocaust in Washington, D.C.; welcome Ellis Island's "poor, tired, and hungry;" and walk the Freedom Trail in Boston.

Wurst said that once students get the "history bug," they never lose their passion for it.

Sacred Hearts School is accepting applications now for the 2014-15 school year. Go to www.sacredheartsschool.net to print out an application or call 661-4720.
