Want to meet some incredible service dogs and support a great charity? Attend "Wag Your Tails for Maui Ales!"
The benefit is set for Friday, Jan. 31, from 6 p.m. to midnight at Maui Brewing Co. in Kahana Gateway.
Half of the night's profits from Maui Brewing Co. beers will be donated to Assistance Dogs of Hawaii (formerly Hawaii Canines for Independence).
Assistance Dogs of Hawaii (ADH) provides people with physical disabilities specially trained dogs that will give them the freedom and confidence to live more independent lives.
ADH is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that relies on the generosity of its supporters and volunteers.
The organization began by training service dogs to help people with limited mobility become more independent. It now trains and places hospital facility dogs, courthouse dogs, social therapy dogs and seizure response dogs.
"In addition to the Assistance Dog Program, our Community Outreach Program has also expanded over the years to reach hundreds of people in our community each week," Executive Director Maureen Maurer explained on Assistance Dogs of Hawaii's website.
"This includes our Therapy Dog Program for hospitals and nursing homes, the Wounded Warrior Program for veterans, the READ Program for children, and the Workplace Readiness Program for high school students with special needs."
Recipients are offered follow-up support from ADH for the lifetime of their dog. This includes home visits and additional training as the person's needs change.
Support this important charity and meet some its four-legged stars at the Maui Brewing Company benefit.
