Officials to speak at WMTA Annual Meeting

By Staff | Jan 2, 2014

LAHAINA – The West Maui Taxpayers Association (WMTA) will hold its Annual Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 9, at Lahaina Civic Center.

The public is invited to this informative event. Akaku: Maui Community Television will tape the event for rebroadcasting.

Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa is slated to speak, as well as State Sen. Roz Baker, State Rep. Angus McKelvey and West Maui County Councilwoman Elle Cochran.

Last year, nearly 300 attendees enjoyed community presentations on the WMTA’s top issues, including the West Maui Hospital and Medical Center, affordable housing and the Lahaina Bypass.

Complimentary food service will be provided by Paradise Grill at 5 p.m., followed by a short business meeting at 5:30 p.m.

According to WMTA, the major purpose of the meeting is to have elected officials address issues of interest to the West Maui community, and to have special presentations on major projects, such as the West Maui Hospital, affordable housing and traffic problems.
