SOUTH MAUI - For the eleventh year in a row, Hale Kau Kau, South Maui's meal program that feeds the hungry "with Compassion and Aloha," has been chosen as the beneficiary of the Mulligans on the Blue Charity Golf Tournament.
The four-person scramble tournament will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. at the Wailea Old Blue Course.
The entry fee is $500 for a four-person team or $150 for single players, who will be paired. The fee includes golf, continental breakfast, lunch, awards and lots of prizes, including a car donated by Maui Toyota, hotel stays and much more.
"We always include prizes for other places besides first, second and third, since this is designed to be a fun event," said Mike O'Dwyer of Mulligans on the Blue. "In the past, we've even included prizes for last place!"
In commenting on his choice of Hale Kau Kau again this year, he added, "At Mulligans, we believe in giving back to the Maui community which has supported us so well over the years."
Rev. Monsignor Terrence A.M. Watanabe, executive director of Hale Kau Kau, said, "We are so grateful to all those who support this golf tournament, especially Mike O'Dwyer, Mulligans, the Wailea Old Blue Golf Course, and all the sponsors, players, donors and volunteers for their role in making sure we can continue our mission to feed those who are hungry in our community.
"While the economy seems to be improving, there are still a lot of people in our community who are hurting. And we must take care of our kupuna, who took such good care of us in the past."
