Help prevent runoff at Canoe Beach

By Staff | Sep 26, 2013

Interested in promoting ridge to reef health in south Kaanapali?

A volunteer weeding of native plantings at the slope at Hanakao’o (Canoe) Beach will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

“The slope planting from the volunteer effort in June is growing nicely but needs a little more help than our current fantastic volunteers can give on their own,” explained Tova Callender, West Maui Watershed and Coastal Management coordinator.

“Come lend a hand for the morning and enjoy being shoulder-to-shoulder with friends, new and old, while getting the satisfaction of instant beautification! We are looking for more long-term stewards for this site – please let me know if you or a group you are affiliated with are interested in becoming involved.”

Volunteers will meet between the cemetery and highway. Bring gloves, hand tools, a water bottle, family and friends.
