Easter Masses set

LAHAINA - Holy Week and Easter Sunday Masses are slated at Maria Lanakila Catholic Church in Lahaina and Sacred Hearts Mission in Kapalua.

At Maria Lanakila, located at the corner of Wainee and Dickenson streets, the schedule is: March 28 - Mass of the Lord's Supper followed by Solemn Adoration at 7 p.m., and Night Prayer at 10 p.m.; March 29 - Morning Prayer at 9 a.m., and Good Friday Liturgy at 3 and 7 p.m.; March 30 - The Great Vigil of Easter at 8 p.m.; March 31 - Masses at 7, 9 and 11 a.m., and 5:30 and 7 p.m. (Misa Espanol).

Professional surfer Dusty Payne of Lahaina on Sunday achieved his biggest career victory at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro in Western Australia. The schedule at Sacred Hearts Mission along Office Road near The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua is: March 28 - 6 p.m. (Misa Espanol); March 29 - Good Friday Liturgy at 3 and 6 p.m. (Espanol); March 30 - The Great Vigil of Easter (Espanol) at 6 p.m.; and March 31 - Masses at 7 and 9 a.m.

Party to support local gardens

LAHAINA - The community is welcome to attend a Green Day Party at the Lahaina Oceanfront Estate on Friday, March 29, to raise funds to support local gardens.

The event will feature a Green Trunk Show and Lahaina Food Co-op during the day and entertainment that night.

The suggested donation is $10 to $20 for all-day access to help Lahainaluna High School students build an aquaponic garden. Go to facebook.com/mauiparty for information.

Easter Bunny to visit mall

LAHAINA - On Friday, March 29, from 6 to 8 p.m., take photos with the Easter Bunny at Lahaina Cannery Mall.

At 6 p.m., the Lahaina Baptist Church Choir will present an Easter cantata.

Celebrate Easter at the Hyatt

KAANAPALI - The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa will host an Easter Sunday Buffet Celebration from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Peter Cottontail's Easter Workshop on Sunday, March 31.

See 'His Hands'

KAHULUI - Unto One and King's Cathedral will present "His Hands" at 7 p.m. on March 29-31.

DLNR to discuss proposed rule amendments

HONOLULU - The state Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) will hold statewide public hearings to receive testimony on proposed amendments to Hawaii Administrative Rules, Title 13, Subtitle 5, Part 2, Chapter 124, regarding "Indigenous Wildlife, Endangered and Threatened Wildlife, and Introduced Wild Birds."

The primary purpose of the proposed amendments is to prohibit and deter the transport and release of introduced wildlife. Introduced species can impact Hawaii's ecosystems and economy by introducing harmful predation and competition to indigenous species, damaging watersheds, spreading pathogens and diseases, and harming agriculture, DLNR reported.

The Maui hearing will be held Monday, April 1, at 6 p.m. in the Lihikai Elementary School Cafeteria.

'Art of Trash' set

KAHULUI - "Art of Trash, 2013" will receive work on Saturday, April 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Maui Mall.

LAHAINA - Maui Adult Day Care Centers and the Maui County Office on Aging invite the community to a free caregiver workshop, "Community Resources to Assist Caregivers and the Elder Population," on Wednesday, March 27, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the West Maui Senior Center at 788 Pauoa St.

Learn about services in Maui County that can assist you with caring for the elderly and caregiver needs.
