5A to recycle electronic items

HONOKOWAI - 5A Rent-A-Space on Saturday, Jan. 19, will accept electronic items and recycle them for no charge.

The following items may be dropped off from 7 a.m. to noon: computer monitors, laptops and computers, telephones and cell phones, stereos and speakers, DVD and VCR players, CRT and LCD monitors, keyboards and mice, PDAs and MP3 players, printers, scanners, fax machines, and video and digital cameras.

The New Shanghai Circus will perform in the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater on Jan. 21 at 4 and 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. Chinese acrobatic skills have been passed on from farmers and craftsmen through generations. Building on the traditional performances, artists of today’s New Shanghai Circus have added layers of complexity and daring with new techniques and spectacular stunts, thrilling audiences around the globe. West Maui Little League to hold registration

LAHAINA - Under new leadership for 2013, West Maui Little League is making a push to improve youth baseball here on the West Side.

Led by new WMLL President Brian Regula, Vice President Jason Kanaha, Secretary Anna Kanaha, Player Agent "Dandy" Don Rosenthal, Umpire Chief Brian Arakawa and Board Members Harry and Daynette Flores, the organization will first try to boost membership with a month-long registration pitch.

Starting this Saturday, Jan. 19, registration will continue on each consecutive Saturday - Jan. 26 and February 2, 9 and 16 - from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lahaina Civic Center.

All interested families are urged to register their boys and girls ages 5-12. Bring the child's birth certificate to registration; parents must present a valid driver's license.

Practice will begin in mid-March, with games scheduled to start in early April for T-Ball (ages 5-6), Coach Pitch (7-8), Minors (9-10) and Majors (11-12) divisions. Call (808) 269-7140 or e-mail kanaha001@ hawaii.rr.com for more information.

Cat spay/neuter clinics slated

9th Life Hawaii is holding free/low-cost cat spay/neuter clinics on Jan. 19-20, 23, 26-27 and 30.

All cats are welcome - owned, strays, homeless and colony cats. The group does not spay pregnant cats.

9th Life volunteers pick up the cats at designated locations and transport them to and from the clinics. The group asks for a minimum $35 donation. In hardship situations, the clinics are always free. Call 573-3365.
