WEST MAUI - The sixth annual Aloha Team Classic Golf Event was held Oct. 17-20, 2011. While the number of participants was small, the magnificent golf and outstanding hospitality created a premier experience for all participants.
Combined with the support of volunteers and Aloha Team Classic supporters, the 2011 event generated $12,000 to distribute in grants to the Lahaina Complex After School Tutor Project and The Maui Farm.
Pat and Richard Endsley, cofounders of the tutor project, said, "We are deeply grateful, honored and proud to receive your generous donation to our After School Enrichment Tutor Project.
"You can be certain that this gift will be used to benefit the students and the project in ways that will improve their literacy and performance levels in math, reading, speaking, writing, social studies and test-taking skills."
The board of directors for Beyond the Rainbow Foundation, the host organization for the Aloha Team
Classic, acknowledged the local business community for its support of the event with generous contributions of products, services and funds.
Supporters include Maui Soda and Ice Works, Roselani Tropics Ice Cream, Polynesian Adventure Tours, Kaanapali Golf Courses, Kapalua Villas, Maui Printing and the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua.
"A very special thank you goes to Bruce and Rosalie Heymanson for their generous donation of a golf trip to Australia for two that was auctioned off during the dinner finale at the close of the event," the Beyond the Rainbow Foundation noted.
"Finally, we greatly appreciate the enthusiasm of the LPGA players, Kim Welch, Liza Ferrero and Allison Hana, for their play in the event and for the golf clinic, which was attended by almost 100 of Maui's young golfers. This was a special opportunity for the youth to interact with the tour professionals and get tips on golf and the tour life."
Plans are underway for the 2012 Aloha Team Classic on Oct. 15-18.
