Management staff and certain contract vendors at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa and Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas completed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration course.

KAANAPALI – The Westin Maui Resort & Spa and Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas promote safety culture within their properties.

Management staff and certain contract vendors undertake the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) 30-hour general industry certification course.

Sidney Nakamura, complex director of security and risk management for the two properties, coordinated the training through SeaRay Beltran of Pacific Islands Risk Management (PIRM) Group International LLC.

PIRM Group International LLC has an authorized OSHA Training Institute instructor on Maui authorized to teach all OSHA Core Courses, including the Outreach OSHA 10 and 30-Hour courses in General Industry and Construction.

“Our partnership with PIRM Group International further reinforces our commitment towards building a culture of safety, providing the safest and most enjoyable environment for our resort guests, owners and associates (staff),” said Nakamura.

Both Westin resorts have also embraced Starwood’s “Be Safe” corporate program, which entails a meticulously planned safety awareness program implemented in the various departments.

“Our proactive approach has resulted in reduction of accidents and costs involved,” added Nakamura.
