A&B Foundation awards grant to Lahaina Arts Association

Lahaina News
LAHAINA — The Alexander & Baldwin Foundation recently awarded a $2,000 grant to Lahaina Arts Association to support its after-school art education programs in Wailuku and Makawao, where many A&B employees reside.

In order to leverage the grant award, Lahaina Arts Association (LAA) has agreed to match, dollar for dollar, the funds that A&B has donated by collecting contributions from community donors.

This “Community Challenge Match” will enable LAA to continue offering art education programs to disadvantaged children in Maui County.

The association provides nine free Art Outreach Classes on Maui and Molokai.

It aims to fill the gap in the education system for the children of Maui County to develop their creative skills, especially when the visual arts have all but left the classroom.

LAA, a 501 (c) (3) charity, seeks to further engage individual and corporate donors in order to support its mission of providing Maui County youth access to the creative arts through education and artistic opportunities.

For information on giving opportunities, including the A&B Challenge Match, contact Priscilla Gonzales at priscilla@lahaina-arts.com or 661-0111.
