Rotarians, Maui Electric Company and Lahaina Cannery Mall are uniting to provide important information on tsunami and emergency preparation, ocean and visitor safety and CPR/lifesaving techniques at a free community event.
The third annual West Maui Safety Fair is slated at the mall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. next week Saturday, May 7.
Gather your friends and family for this opportunity to learn and experience dozens of important safety tips.
Highlights will include a scavenger hunt, the chance to meet McGruff the Crime Dog at noon, bicycle safety challenge course with helmet fitting inspection by the county Department of Parks & Recreation in the parking lot and prize giveaways.
For boaters, the U.S. Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Office will conduct free EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicator Radio Beacon) testing at the fair. The public can also check out a USCG Auxiliary patrol boat and USCG Station Maui 25-foot patrol and search and rescue boat on display.
Residents and visitors will be able to learn from the American Heart Association, American Medical Response, Maui Electric Company, Maui County Civil Defense Agency, Maui County Office on Aging, county Department of Water Supply, Maui County Hotel & Resort Security Association, Maui District Health Office, Maui Fire Department, Maui Police Department, county Ocean Safety officers, county Department of Parks & Recreation, Women Helping Women, U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Division of Maui and other organizations at the event.
