KAHULUI — Take an epicurean journey through Italy, India and Bali during the 14th annual Elegant Afternoon Tea benefiting Women Helping Women on Sunday, April 10, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the new Yokouchi Pavilion at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC).

This year’s event, “Eat, Pray, Love, Laugh,” is certain to inspire each of your senses — and the best part is, it’s all for a good cause.

Catered by Chef Bev Gannon of Hali’imaile General Store, Joe’s Bar & Grill and Gannon’s Restaurant in Wailea, this glamorous afternoon fete will feature exotic cuisine in the flavors of Italy, India and Bali, as well as live music and entertainment and a one-of-a-kind silent and live auction.

Following the afternoon tea at 7:30 p.m., comedienne Kathy Griffin will take the stage in the Castle Theater for a stand out, stand-up performance.

Griffin is a two-time Emmy Award winner (“My Life on the D-List”), a Best Comedy Album Grammy Award nominee (“For Your Consideration” and “Kathy Griffin Does the Bible Belt”) and a New York Times best-selling author (“Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin”).

Now Griffin is coming to Maui, and there’s a good chance that no one in Hollywood is safe, as celebrity blunders and Tinseltown gossip are fuel for the hilarious sketches that have kept audiences laughing for years.

A portion of the ticket sales from her performance at the Castle Theater will benefit Women Helping Women.

“This year’s tea promises to be the most amazing and fun event yet,” said Women Helping Women Executive Director Stacey Moniz.

“With four themes — ‘Eat, Pray, Love and Laugh’ — plus three countries’ worth of food, fun and entertainment — Italy, India and Bali — this is the event to attend.”

Women Helping Women is a unique provider of crisis intervention and support services for direct and indirect victims of domestic violence. The mission of the organization is to end domestic violence through advocacy, education and prevention, while offering safety, support and empowerment to those impacted by domestic violence.

Proceeds from the Elegant Afternoon Tea will help to keep this mission alive.

There are two ticketing options available. Tickets for the Elegant Afternoon Tea are $150 for VIP seating, $95 for premier seating and $85 for general admission seating.
