Up Front Lahaina

September 30, 2010
Lahaina News
... LAHAINA RESTORATION FOUNDATION has come up with a brand new format to raise funds for the renovation of the PIONEER MILL SMOKESTACK. It is an online auction from Oct. 1-17 with a large array of auction items. Go to www.lahainarestoration.org and click on the auction. Items will continue to be added throughout the time period. This is a great idea to raise funding for this Lahaina landmark...

... and LAHAINATOWN ACTION COMMITTEE is going great guns with its Fright Night event, the HALLOWEEN BASH, in the old Lahaina Store at 744 Front St. LAC is getting tremendous support from the business community with great donations for the event and great prizes for the costume contest. The event is limited to teens in the old oyster bar location and will feature great music, deejays, food and prizes. Admission will be $10 per person...

... and PAKISTAN is still suffering from the ongoing flooding, with, it seems, spasmodic help from the rest of the world. From where I sit, part of the problem is the survivors marooned on small pockets of land where helicopters can’t even land and boats are not available — auwe...

... ah, but back in Lahaina, approximately five yeas ago, JONGKONNIE NISHIMURA closed her PAD THAI CUISINE due to family demands, but she never lost her love of cooking and the dream of opening another restaurant. And today the dream is a reality — her Pad Thai Restaurant is back at the WHARF CINEMA CENTER, so her customers can once again enjoy her award-winning Pad Thai Noodles...

... and the primary is over — on to the general. All who ran are to be commended — it was, for the most part, a clean race with a few tricks here and there. The ballots were a mess — I didn’t vote for my favorite candidate because I didn’t see the name on the ballot. Now, will all those unsuccessful candidates please take down their signs?!...
