Art festivals held in Banyan Tree Park

Weekend arts and crafts fairs under the Banyan Tree take place three weekends a month from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring 25 Maui artists and artisans displaying and selling island-made artworks. The weekends alternate between the Lahaina Arts Society’s Banyan Tree Arts & Crafts Fair and the He U‘i Cultural Arts Festival. Admission is free.

Help restore Honokowai Valley

HONOKOWAI — Through Volunteering on Vacation, a free program offered by Pacific Whale Foundation, visit Honokowai Valley to help save archeological sites of old Hawaii, pull invasive plants and possibly plant native species. Hike in Haleakala

HALEAKALA — On Saturday mornings, join Haleakala National Park staff at the trail head for Keonehe‘ehe‘e for a quarter-mile walk down the trail at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Registration is not necessary. There’s more to this mountain than rocks! Investigate with staff at three of five Citizen Science Stations to earn a badge and understand all dimensions of the park. Curious minds of all ages are welcome from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. If you have 3-4 hours and good shoes, see the Native Hawaiian cloud forest on Mondays, Thursdays and the third Sunday of each month. LAHAINA — At Lahaina Cannery Mall every Tuesday and Thursday, free Polynesian Performances Hula Shows are held at 7 p.m. Every Saturday and Sunday, free Keiki Hula Shows start at 1 p.m. Maui Toy Works holds Yu-Gi-Oh card sessions from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Yo-Yo/skill toys workshops and demonstrations from 4 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
