Paws & Reflect by Maui Humane Society

Ohana Bound Hounds

October is Adopt-A-Dog month, and MHS is celebrating “Ohana Bound Hounds.” We want to see more homeless dogs placed with a loving ohana and more lost dogs returned to their homes. Reuniting a pet with its people is a saved life, and we love those kind of happy endings. Make sure you i.d. your pet with a collar tag or dog license, or even better, a permanent tattoo or microchip i.d. Keep the contact info updated. If lost, that could be your pet’s ticket home! And call MHS right away, so we can help find your lost pet.

If you are ready to bring a canine companion into your ohana, visit our shelter. MHS always has many wonderful puppies and dogs awaiting adoption. For Adopt-A-Dog month, we are offering some extra incentives to adopt a shelter pet. Through the end of October, adopt a senior dog (7 years or older) and pay no adoption fee! Or adopt a shelter puppy or young dog and “Spin to Win” a great discount off the adoption fee. Our standard adoption fees range from $50 to $125 (details on our website) and include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, a health exam, and other goods and services valued at around $400.

Even though it’s “Adopt-A-Dog” Month, we don’t ever forget our precious feline friends. During Halloween weekend (Oct 29-31), adopt two cats or kittens, and “poof‚” the adoption fees are gone! (Free to qualified loving homes only, of course.)

Adoption hours at the Maui Humane Society are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 7 days a week. Come and see us!
