Paws & Reflect by Maui Humane Society

February 14, 2011 - Mark Vieth
Fur Ball, Anyone?

Maui Humane Society’s annual Fur Ball has evolved over the years into one of the most anticipated annual events on Maui, featuring a creative theme, lavish props, and a fun and elegant evening — all to benefit Maui’s animals. Our 2011 Fur Ball is coming up next week, Saturday, February 19, at Grand Wailea.

This year’s theme? “The Canine Canteen,” honoring those who serve and protect — service animals and the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. The gala event starts at 5 p.m. and includes dinner, live and silent auctions, entertainment, a swing dance contest, and lots of surprises, followed by dancing (from 9:30 p.m.) in the resort’s Tsunami Night Club, open for this one night only to “Swing the Night Away!”It’s not too late to get your Fur Ball tickets. Cost for the dinner/auction extravaganza is $125,with tickets to the dance after-party sold separately at $25.

Attending MHS events like Fur Ball is a great way to support our agency, help Maui’s animals, and have fun at the same time. MHS is a private, nonprofit organization, completely independent from any other animal welfare organization. We provide many critical services and programs that are funded solely through private donations. Fur Ball is not just a great party — it’s an important fundraiser for MHS, last year netting over $100,000 that supported a wide range of needs from dog food to educational programs to extended medical care for our shelter pets.

Help us in our efforts to serve the community and provide care and compassion to Maui’s animals. Join us for the fabulous Fur Ball! For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.mauihumanesociety.org or call 877-3680, ext 32.
