Cause of brush fire not determined

On Wednesday, Maui Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the report of a brush fire in the Hoolehua area of Molokai. Crews arrived to find a half acre of brush burning just a few hundred feet from homes in the area. Three homes were evacuated as a precaution. Hoselines were extended to attack the fire, and assistance from the department’s Air 1 helicopter was requested. Public works assistance was also requested to provide heavy equipment and tankers.
